The yacht "Apostol Andrey".
The yacht "Apostol Andrey" is an oceanic
yacht, specially designed and built for sailing in the northern
Seas.
- Length – 16,2 m;
- Width – 4,8 m;
- Draugh – 2,7 m;
- Displacement – 25 tons.
The hull is welded from steel sheets in chini
construction. Durability and rigidity are provided by the
increased thickness of a plating (20 mm at the bottom) and
rigidity of bulkheads. Rigging – bermuda ketch. The two masts
– the mainsail (19 m) and the mizzenmast (14 m) carry 130
square meters of sails:
- Grotto – 2 items; Trysail;
- Genoese staysail, Stay sail #1 – 2 items; Staysail #2;
Staysail #3; Storm staysail;
- Mizen sail;
- Spinnaker;
The maximum speed under sails is up to 12 knots;
the cruising speed under sails is 7-10 knots.
An auxiliary engine has 85 h.p. The yacht is
equipped with modern radio and phone communication means and
navigation equipment, and there is everything necessary for
living of the crew, comprising 5-7 people.
The yacht was built in the town of Tver and
was launched in 1996. In 2000 repair works and the reconstruction
were carried out at the Kronshtad Naval Shipyard. The port
of registration: Moscow. His Holiness Alexey II, Patriarch
of Moscow and all Russia, gave the name Apostol Andrey to
the yacht.
The yacht "Apostol Andrey" is the
first Russian yacht, which sailed along the perimeter of the
Arctic Ocean. For the present there are only three yachts
in the world, which sailed over the total length of this ice
circumference: the French yacht "Vagabond", the
German yacht "Dagmar Aen" and the Russian yacht
"Apostol Andrey".
