Sergey M. Yepishkin

The leader of the expedition. Graduate of the Geographical Faculty of the Moscow State University. Since 1991 – the member of the staff of the Adventure Club.

Participated in the archaeological excavations of the burial place of Witus Bering, a famous world-known navigator, at the Commander Islands (1991), took part in search works of the place of death of Georgy Sedov, a Russian polar explorer, at the Franz-Josef Land (1995).

 

 

   

Anatoly V. Melnikov

Deputy Chief of the expedition. Graduate of the Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of communication. Merited master of sports. As a participant of the expedition "Komsomolskaia Pravda" took part in the ski crossings USSR – North Pole (1979), USSR – North Pole – Canada (1988).

Participated in the search of the wintering heim of Fridtjof Nansen at the Franz-Josef Land (1990), in the excavations of the burial place of Vitus Bering at the Commander Islands (1991), in the expedition, in the search of the place of death of Georgy Sedov, a Russian explorer, at the Franz Josef Land (1995).

 

 

   

Vladimir N. Solovyev

The senior public prosecutor of the General Office of Public Prosecutor of the Russian Federation. Graduate of the faculty of law of the State Moscow University. Participated as an expert in examinations of many well-known legal cases. In 1968–69 he worked as an expert at the excavations of Paleolithic sites.

 

 

   

Viktor N. Zvyagin

Professor, Doctor of Medical Science, honoured physician of the Russian Federation. Head of the department of the forensic medicine of the identification of a personality of the Russian Federal Forensic Center. Graduate of the Samarsky Medical Institute. Worked as a post-graduate of Professor M. M. Gerasimov. The author of seven scientific and popular scientific books. Participated in the identification of the lost after the accident with the motor ship "Nakhimov", examination of the remains of the Chinese Marshal Leen Byao (1971), Nikifor Begyachev, Russian explorer (1985), Witus Bering at the Commander Islands (1991, participated as an expert in examinations of many well-known legal cases. Reconstructed the genuine image of Witus Bering (1992).

 

 

   

Mikhail E. Berezovsky

Candidate of Medical Science. Senior research officer of the Russian Federal Forensic Center. Graduate of the First Moscow Medical Institute. Participated in the excavation works of the burial place of Witus Bering at the Commander Islands (1991). Assisted Viktor V. Zvyagin in the process of creation of the bust of Witus Bering. Sculpture is his favourite occupation in free time. Since 1982 he is the constant participant of the Moscow exhibitions of stones.

 

 

   

Vadim F. Starkov

Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences. Chief of the group of the polar archaeology of the Archaeological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Graduate of the Historical Faculty of the Moscow State University. Participated in the excavations of the ancient settlement of coast-dwellers Mangazeya at the north of the West Siberia. (1967–1970), the wintering place of William Barentz, polar navigator, at the Novaya Zemlya (1993, 1995). Since 1978 is heading the archaeological works at Svalbard.

 

 

   

Pavel Yu. Chernosvitov

Candidate of Historical Science. Senior research officer of the Archaeological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Graduate of the Moscow Aviation College. Participated in the archaeological expeditions in Altai and Siberia (1975–1982), at Svalbard (1982–1991). Participated in the archaeological excavations of the burial place of Witus Bering (1991). He has a passion for painting.

 

 

   

Nikolai G. Nizov

A photographer of the Kaluga regional museum. Graduate of the historical faculty of the Kaluga Pedagogical Institute. A participant of more than 50 international photo exhibitions, a holder of dozens prizes. In 1998 Nikolai was awarded the golden medal at the Photo exhibition "World press-photo" in Paris.

 

 

   

Ekaterina P. Zavgorodneva

Teacher of history. Graduate of the Moscow Pedagogical College. Participated in the archaeological expeditions in Astrakhan, Crimea, and at the Tamansky peninsular.

 

 

   

Aleksey N. Mikhalev

Correspondent. Graduate of the faculty of journalism of the Moscow State University. Worked in the regions of national conflicts and regions difficult of access, in particular – in Alaska.

 

 

   

Aleksander Yu. Stvolin

Cameraman. Graduate of the Cameraman Faculty of the State Cinematography Institute. Produced three feature films: "Wake up in Shanghai" (1987), "Highlander" (1992), "In the eagle's empire" (1993) and a number of documentaries.
