The North Pole was conquered during
the Polar Night!

On March 14, 2008 at 7.40 p.m. (MSK), the Russian explorers Matvey Shparo and Boris Smolin for the first time in history reached the North Pole during the night, traveling more than 1000 km over the drifting ice of the Arctic Ocean.

There was published a book of Nikolay Litau "The second circumnavigation of the yacht "Apostol Andrey". This book is written in a gender of diaries, and is dedicated to the expedition 2001-2002, when the yacht closed "a ring" along the perimeter of the Arctic Ocean.
